Similar to the alteration being made in the conduction of major examinations due to the effect of COVID-19 SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE 2021) can also have some uncertainties. As per the media reports, Mr Sandeep Sancheti, Vice-Chancellor of SRM institute has said that things may change according to the ongoing situation of COVID-19. He said that SRMJEEE 2021 will be held as scheduled. However, the institution will take a call, as per the situation.
For the time being, it is expected that the examinations will be held during the third to last week of June. Probably it will be conducted between the exam date of CBSE board examination and that of the JEE Advanced.
SRMJEEE is conducted for Indian students to provide admissions in B.tech courses and also to grant SRM scholarships. Whereas in the case of NRI or foreign national candidates, SAT scores are considered for Engineering courses offered in SRM Group of Universities.
Apart from SRMJEEE, the university also uses JEE main score to decide the eligibility of admission. As per the norms of the institution, students falling under top 1000 ranks can get direct admission in B.tech courses at SRM University. Moreover, if the seats remain vacant after the admission process through SRMJEEE gets over, the JEE Main candidates having certain ranks are given preference.
Putting clarification to the weightage of class 12th marks in SRMJEEE 2021, Vice-Chancellor of SRM institute asserts that they are not in the favour to consider class 12th marks to decide the eligibility of the admission unless there is no choice. For instance, class 12th marks were used last year to provide admissions, as conduction of examination was not possible due to the spread of coronavirus infection. He says that it creates a lot of confusion and chaos since the declaration of board examination results is not certain. In addition to this, some of the examination boards do not share the details of marks which they used for the normalization process.
He further adds that it will not be an issue as gradually everything is turning out positive. And with the launch of the vaccine, there is a fair chance that SRMJEEE 2021 will be conducted.
SRMJEEE 2021 Syllabus
Similar to the syllabus of engineering entrance examinations like JEE, SRMJEEE 2021 exam is also based on the topics covered in 10+2 syllabus. The CBSE and other state boards have produced the syllabus as the academic calendar was altered due to the effect of an ongoing pandemic. Thus the syllabus of SRMJEEE 2021 will be according to these changes.
For now, as per the guidelines, SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination 2021 syllabus has already been reduced by 30%. More information can be found on the official website of SRM IST www.srmist.edu.in.
