In his Webinar, Mr Pokhriyal said that “After the announcement of JEE Main 2021 exam dates, Students were continuously putting up their queries through emails and other mediums that when JEE advanced 2021 will be conducted.”
He further added that the students were curious to know whether there would be some relaxation in eligibility criteria and other rules of examination, similar to that given in the 2020 examination. And since the pandemic situation is still there, and also keeping in view that it has affected the academic calendar as well as learning of the students, the ministry has decided to remove the 75% criteria.
In the previous years, to be eligible to sit in JEE advanced the students were needed to secure at least 75% marks in class 12 board examinations. And in the case of reserved category students, it was 65%. On the contrary, this criteria will be scrapped for the 2021 exam as per the announcement made by the Education Minister.
In this webinar, he also informed that this time, it would be conducted by IIT Kharagpur. As per some reliable sources, it is being said that the qualifying candidates of JEE main 2020 who were not able to appear in JEE advanced will be able to appear directly for JEE advanced 2021. These candidates will not need to sit for JEE Main 2021.
