Bachelors of Commerce Honors or B.Com (Hons.) is an undergraduate honors degree of three-year in the field of commerce. It is one of the most popular course among the students of commerce stream. It consists of subjects, such as Accounting, Taxation, Economics, Financial Management, etc. Students after completing their 10+2 from the commerce stream can pursue the course.

The main difference between a B.Com and B.Com (Hons.) course is that, in this course, students get to pick a specialization of their interest and then proceed with the elective in the final year of the degree.

Curriculum B.Com (Hons.) provides a specialization to the students in a specific subject or field. Students can pick a subject in the final year for the specialized studies. B.Com programs can be understood as an overview of all the subjects in the field of Commerce. The course does not provide any specialization to the students.
Market Value As a specialization course, it offers better career scope and good packages than B.Com. The value of the course is in the industry. B.Com graduates are not valued as much in the business industry unless the students pursue a PG course after this program, such as MBA or M.Com.
Jobs B.Com (Hons.) graduates salary packages are quite good as the program has good demand in the industry. Salaries may vary depending on the college/university. B.Com (Hons) Eligibility

The Eligibility Criteria for admission in B.Com (Hons) are as follows:

  • Candidates must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board with the commerce stream with a minimum aggregate marks criteria provided by the examining authority of government, universities/institutes, etc.
  • Relaxation of 5% to 10% is provided for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/Other Backward classes.

B.Com (Hons) Admission Process

Admission in the B.Com (Hons) course (Bachelor of Commerce (Honors)) is based on a merit list prepared on the basis of the last qualifying exam or entrance exam conducted by the universities/institutes. Given below is the admission process for joining the course in the top B.Com (Hons) colleges:

Merit-based admission process for B.Com (Hons) courses

  • Students have to do the registration from online/offline modes.
  • After the completion of the registration, they have to do the payment of the application fee as per the guidelines of the institute/university.
  • The institute releases the merit list based on 10+2 scores.
  • The last step is the Document verification and fee payment.

Entrance exam-based admission process for B.Com (Hons) courses

  • Firstly students have to appear in the entrance exam, which is conducted by the state or the university in which they want to get admitted.
  • After this merit list has been prepared based on the performance of the students in the entrance exam.
  • Students have to go through the counselling process or remaining selection process as per the guidelines of the college or university.
  • Selected students have to submit the documents and fee.
