BITS, also known as Birla Institute of Technology and Science  is one of the premier institutes in India that has leading courses in technology and the sciences. BITSAT (also known as Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test) is a university level examination held once annually for the admission of candidates into the degree programs offered by BITS campuses that are located in Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa.

BITSAT is an online based test (CBT) conducted by BITS Pilani. Every year, about 3 lakh applicants take up this examination to get into their preferred stream in one of the prestigious institutes.

Upcoming Dates of BITSAT 2021

Candidates should go through the following schedule before applying for the BITSAT 2021. The table below gives the tentative dates for the events of the examination:

Eligibility Criteria of BITSAT

Before beginning to fill the application for the BITSAT 2021, it is advised that the candidates go through the following eligibility criteria to avoid the rejection or cancellation of the application form:

For the B.Pharma application:

1. Educational Qualifications: Candidates should have qualified their 12th or equivalent examination from a university or some other recognized board.

2. Minimum Percentage: Candidates should have scored a minimum of 75% marks in all the subjects and a minimum of 60% in each subject.

3. Mandatory subjects: Candidates should compulsarily have Physics, Chemistry, & Biology or Mathematics with an adequate proficiency in English language in their final qualifying examinations.

For all other First degree programs (other than B.Pharma):

1.Educational Qualification: Candidates should compularily have qualified their intermediate examination from any recognized university or board to be eligible for the BITSAT examination.

2.Minimum Percentage: Candidates should have scored a minimum of 75% marks in all the subjects and a minimum of 60% in each subject.

3.Mandatory subjects: Candidates should compulsarily have Physics, Chemistry, & Biology or Mathematics with an adequate proficiency in English language in their final qualifying examinations.

4.Others: Candidates that will be appearing for their final examinations will also be eligible for the examination.

Syllabus

The BITSAT examination consists of the NCERT class 11th and 12th  syllabus. The BITSAT includes topics such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (or) Biology, English Proficiency  and Logical Reasoning. Particular topics under the specific subjects are mentioned below.

·Physics: Units and dimensions, rotational motion, mechanics of solid, Heat & thermodynamics, optics and rotational motion, etc.

·Chemistry: This subject comprises Atomic structure, states of matter, physical & chemical equilibrium, s & p-block elements, principles of organic chemistry, hydrocarbons etc.

·Mathematics: Topics consists of Algebra, trigonometry, three-dimensional geometry, differential calculus, linear programming, etc.

·English Proficiency: Topics include Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Analogy and Composition.

·Logical Reasoning: Verbal reasoning- Analogy, Classification, reading passage, and many others. Non-verbal reasoning- Figure Matrix, paper cutting, rule detection, etc.

Examination Pattern of BITSAT

Candidates should go through the details below regarding the BITSAT Examination Pattern:

·Number of Questions: There will totally be 150 questions in BITSAT.

·Mode of Examination : The BITSAT 2021 examination will be conducted in online (computer-based test) mode.

·Types of question: The questions asked in the examination will be of MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) type.

·Medium of Instruction: The question paper will be in English medium.

·Parts of the question paper: The question paper consists of 4 parts.

·Duration of Examination: Candidates are given exactly 3 hours to solve and answer the question paper.

·Marking scheme: Every correct answer awards 3 marks whereas 1 mark gets deducted for every incorrect answer. The candidates should be careful while answering the question paper as there is a negative marking scheme. The section-wise distribution of questions is as follows:

BITSAT 2021 Registration and Application Process

Candidates must go through the following details regarding BITSAT before filling in the application form as there are several details that are to be taken seriously.

·Candidates will be able to fill in and submit their application form in online mode.

·The BITSAT 2021 application form is expected to be made available from the 3rd week of December 2020.

·The dealine to submit the application form is expected to be in the 2nd week of March 2021.

·The conducting authority for the examination will provide the correction facility between the 2nd to 3rd week of March 2021.

·Candidates should upload a passport size photograph and their most recent signature in the prescribed format while filling the application form.

·Candidates should also provide a valid email ID in working condition and phone number in the application form for further communication.

·All international applicants will have to follow the same application procedure to register for the BITSAT.

·Finally, candidates should also keep a printout of the filled in application form on hand for further use.

·The application fees can be submitted in either online or offline mode by the candidates to finally complete their application process.

·Debit card, credit card and net banking are the primary ways in which the application fees can be paid.

Expected Cut-off for the BITSAT 2021

Each participating institution releases a separate BITSAT Cut-off depending upon the stream and category of the candidate. Candidates must attain marks that are either equal to or greater than the cut-off marks to qualify for the examination.

The cut-off will be based on several factors such as the no. of seats available, the score of the candidates, the total number of candidates that have applied, etc.

Tips for Preparation

·Candidates must go through the entire syllabus and examination pattern.

·They should also have a preparation schedule and make sure to strictly follow it.

·Solve previous year question papers and sample papers while making sure to keep a timer on hand and also analyze every test to check their capabilities.

·Candidates should remember to leave the last one week for revision of the complete syllabus.

·Along with working towards their strategy for the exam, applicants should also watch out for simple mistakes they can make that could cost them heavily. From carrying the right documents, reaching the examination centre on time to avoiding calculation errors, all these are small things every applicant should keep in mind.

·Keeping the time limitations in mind, it is expected that the applicant should not spend too much time on a single question but also not rush through the questions as it could cause panic.

·Skipping questions that require more time is the smarter thing to do compared to playing a guessing game as the examination does have a negative marking scheme.

Examination Centers for BITSAT 2021

The BITSAT 2021 exam is scheduled to be held in various centers across India. Some centers will be the Dubai campus of BITS (the International center), Agra, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi,  Gorakhpur, Gurgaon, Gwalior, Mangalore, Jammu, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pilani campus of BITS, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Bareilly, etc.

Candidates that choose the Dubai center will not be allowed to choose sany other cente and will be allotted the Dubai exam center directly.

FAQs

Q: Will the application fee be refunded in case I do not give the examination?

A: No, the application fee as per policy of the institute is cannot be refunded in any case. There are no exemptions.

Q: Is there any system for negative marking in the BITSAT 2021?

A: Yes, there is a system for negative marking in the examination. One mark gets deducted for every incorrect answer.

Q: Will I be able to pay the application fees through net banking or in any other online method?

A: Yes, candidates will be allowed to submit the application fees through debit cards, credit cards and net banking also.

Q: Can the application form be filled in offline mode?

A: The application form is made available only in online mode and hence cannot be filled in offline mode.

Q: Where can I fill my exam city preferences?

A: You will be able to fill in three exam city preferences at the time of registration.
