Getting a degree in Engineering stream is very easy these days but the MNCs and big industries are not relying only on the grades and overall semester results. They will be grilling a candidate based on their technical skills, communication skills and presentation skills. An Engineering student should be aware about these skills which will help them in grabbing the placement.

1.) Problem Solving Skills
Problem solving skills are the most important thing which a student should try to learn and adapt within them. It is in great demand in job market and industries are filtering out candidates based on this Problem-Solving Skills.
In any industrial/corporate projects there will be numerous problems an engineer has to troubleshoot them. For troubleshooting the same, they need to do hit and trials and out of the box thinking is also required for the same.
2.) Industrial Skills
An Engineering student should be aware about the technical skills related to his Engineering domain. Apart from those bookish knowledge and formulae associated with theorems there is also a great need for the Industrial skills.
Industrial skills give a great exposure to the engineering student prior to the actual work environment. It acts like a simulator for them and prepare them for the actual work environment. It is advisable to do the summer internships or training from the good firm so that a student can get an idea about the corporate and industrial work.
When engineering students make their CV/ Resume, adding the same will have a good impact over the same. Recruiters also grill over the same to know about the knowledge which a student has gathered from the industrial training.
3.) Teamwork
It is a well-known fact that engineering students have a neck to neck competition when the placement time arrives. During preparation it may be possible that either they do the same in stand alone way or in group study.
Every company will check whether you are a team player or not. It is the most important skills which a student should develop inside them. It will be difficult to manage and handle all the tasks and projects alone so in corporate life the same is distributed to different teams and for the tasks to be executed, teamwork is required. A student should try to divide the task and try to adapt in this teamwork methodology.
4.) Final Year Project
We all are aware that few students go to market and buy their Final Year Project. It is not advisable at all. It is like creating a hole in your own career.
Interviewer will be asking more than 50% of the questions from your Final Year Project and will try to evaluate you on the same. They will be able to see your participations, involvement, technical understanding, communications skills from the same. It is highly advised to make your own Final year Project, no matter whether you are able to make it run or not but the efforts and R&D which you have put in it’s making will count and reflect.
It is upon the engineering students to groom themselves according to the industrial demand. It will require simple but consistent efforts.
