Illiteracy leads to lower income. A person who is not literate can’t be able to find a highly paid job as they lack educational skills. An illiterate person suffers a lot in getting good remuneration they get paid on their physical work skills and their working potential which eventually leads to earning lower monthly income. Thus Lower Income is one of the major effects of illiteracy in the society.

We as an individual should try to educate people so that they can be able to read, write and do simple mathematics so that their day to day activities can be easily performed.

Lower-quality Jobs-

Due to illiteracy a person may be able to get the job but it is always seen that the job is of lower quality. Lower quality job refers to not any extra benefits to the employee benefits like HRA, PF, Medical allowances. Even if we will take from labor law perspective employees are not able to get the same. Thus illiteracy will be going to give lower quality jobs to the people where they remain away from the basic privileged provided in a quality job.

Unemployment-

Unemployment is the worst impact of illiteracy. There are several people who are illiterate and also lack labor/different skills. As an outcome of this they are not able to get employment. Illiteracy contributes to higher unemployment rates in the society. Child Labor also increases due to illiteracy.

Poor Health Outcomes-

Due to illiteracy, several different negative outcomes arise which also gives pain at different level and also become hurdles to the basic living condition of an individual.

Illiteracy gives rise to the Poor Health Outcomes as an illiterate person is not able to afford balanced diet and that creates deficiency of nutrients inside them which eventually leads to any major disease or towards pathetic life style from health perspective. Thus a person should try to seek knowledge as being educated is the basic solution of these problems.

Here we have discussed about the major effects of illiteracy and we have noticed the sufferings due to it. Thus Education is very much essential to curb this problem. We should try at our individual level to provide education to poor people whether in NGOs or by taking free classes. Government should also treat this issue in more planned and structured way as this hampers the economic growth of a nation. We must remember that education is the basic Human Right which a person should avail and we as an individual should try to spread education around ourselves.
