I still remember my school days when Saturday were meant for fun activities and co-curricular activities. We used to go school and we were attending the classes for the half day and the next half was quite interesting and was very helping for us in grooming our personality and overall development. It is true that children go to school to learn and to attend the classes in more practical ways so that they can do better in their career. It is a well-known fact that apart from these textbooks knowledge a child also needs different activities which will remove the monotonicity and improves their productivity and grasping power.
Debates, GK Quiz, Fancy Dress Competition, Extempore, Sports Activities, Music and Dance were the co-curricular activities which I had enjoyed in my school days. I still remember it was always an excitement for us to participate in these activities and we were eager to earn prizes and trophies by winning them. Today I realize that these co-curricular activities were actually important for me as a children so in this article I will be emphasizing on the importance of different co-curricular activities in a student’s life and also about the need to maintaining a balance between it and education.
1.) Exposure to New Activities
We all know that school is a place where we get to learn our academics in a better way and prove ourselves by giving examinations. We get a chance to study from the best teacher and able to learn even hardest thing in an easy way. But this is also true that sometimes it creates a very monotonous environment and students need refreshment. Their mind needs some of the New Activities so that they can be rebooted and can be used again in study.
Co-curricular activities provide an exposure to the students for various New Activities which they can enjoy and can be a best mode for recharging them and omit the monotonic waves inside their mind.
2.) Creativity
Co-curricular activities play a very important role in enhancing the creativity of the students. Activities such as Spot drawing, Fine Arts, Embroidery, Rangoli making etc play a very crucial role in sharpening the creativity skills for the students. Students find it very much interesting and can be very much helpful in exploring different creativity inside them.
Co-curricular activities merged with academics will be a better way to improve the learning capability of the student.
3.) Enhances the Overall Personality
Co-curricular activities point towards the personality development of the student. It is found and observed that those students who were actively indulged in the Co-curricular activities were having a decent personality.
It also improves the self confidence of a student and develops a passion inside them. Co-curricular activities also play a vital role in creating a healthy competitive environment among students.
4.) Communication
It is often observed that those students who are only limited towards study are of shy nature. Co-curricular activities is giving them a better channel where they can learn effective communication skills and this can be very much useful in later stage of their professional career.
It helps in strengthening and expanding your reading skills, writing skills and oral communication inside an individual.
Co-curricular activities are very much important and must be provided in students schedule so that they can expand the horizon of their overall development and can excel better in multiple fields. Parents should also promote their children towards the active participation in the Co-curricular activities and can motivate them to do well in the same.
